Great post. I wrote a rant about positioning of music stands a couple of year ago. I was particularly fed up with singers who have the stand ridiculously high right in front of them http://www.musicademy.com/2008/11/music-stand-rant/
I am right handed too but I put it on my left side… this way if I have to look down at my left hand to hit a certain chord then I am looking in the same direction as my music… rather than looking left at my hand on the fret then right at the music for the next note if I am unsure about it. Just, what helps me 🙂
